Africa has all the assets require to become a global leader — not just a consumer — in future technologies, provided that adequate policies are put in place, head of the Innovation and Technology section at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Mactara Seck, said. In an interview with MAP on the sidelines of the third edition of GITEX Africa 2025 in Marrakech, Seck emphasized the critical role of technological innovation in the continent’s sustainable development strategy.
“Africa must not settle for being a consumer of tomorrow’s technologies. It must create them, adapt them to its realities, and use them as engines of inclusive growth,” he said.
